There are varied academic perspectives, facts, and interpretations of historical material to consider.
Evidence of Native American habitation and hunting activity in the French Broad River valley has been documented by NC state agencies. Additionally, local sources advise that artifacts have been found in the Etowah area by local residents in earlier decades.
